NYU's Impact Investment Fund is disrupting the way investments are made. Donations to NYU for the NYU Impact Investment Fund (NIIF) will be used to support this program, through which students will have the opportunity to learn about impact investing by doing it. As part of this program, NYU makes contributions to a designated NIIF account at a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) — currently Impact Assets, Inc., a Maryland non-profit corporation — over which NIIF has advisory privileges. Following its research into several identified sectors and potential investments within them, NIIF will recommend that the DAF make specific investments in the NIIF account that meet NIIF's criteria. NIIF will monitor investment performance and, from time to time, will recommend distributions from the NIIF account to charities (other than NYU) that support or otherwise seek to advance the goals of impact investing.
